The Second Indoor Workshop
The Dot Games and the Toolkits
The second workshop aimed to inspire children’s creativity in design. One of the games was ‘The Red Dot on the Climate Crisis’ and ‘The Green Dot of Climate Hopes.’ The children had to draw a negative consequence associated with the red dot and a positive result related to the green dot. This activity showcased their imagination and tested their knowledge of climate change, offering insight into their thought processes. Each child received two sheets of paper: one with a green dot in the center and another with a red dot. On these sheets, they were encouraged to illustrate their future vision, either positively or negatively.
Additionally, in a second game, children built a model of a venue using a paper box and a toolkit, planning the layout with the provided materials. Equipped with information from a lecture, the children crafted miniature paper dioramas using colored pencils and glued miniature figures onto their artwork. They applied their imagination to envision future climates and animals, creating various ‘fantasy’ creatures of the future. For example, children imagined a fish with long legs due to drought, a rabbit with wings to escape the heat on the ground, and an anteater that absorbs water to release it, much like a whale, to moisten the ground. This exercise helped the children explore how climate change could impact animal evolution. Finally, students from the Delft University of Technology collected these creations to inspire future designs.
